Privacy Policy

Last updated: 12 October 2026

The short version. Cloud Notch has no account, no analytics and no advertising, and we do not receive your data. It works on your Mac with what is on your Mac. It makes two kinds of network request: to Anthropic, for your plan usage, only if you turn that on, and to GitHub, once a day, to see whether a newer version is out.

What the app reads

Cloud Notch is downloaded from this website, not from the Mac App Store, and it is not sandboxed. Like any app installed this way it runs with your user account’s access to your files, within the privacy protections macOS enforces. This section says what it does with that access. All of it happens on your Mac, and none of it is sent to us.

The network connections

Anthropic, for your plan usage

Live plan usage is off until you turn it on, in the welcome tour or in Settings → Plan Figures. Turned on, Cloud Notch asks Anthropic’s servers (api.anthropic.com) for your plan’s 5-hour and weekly usage, about every two minutes while it runs. To do so it reads the login Claude Code already keeps in your macOS Keychain. macOS may ask for your password before handing it over. Often it does not, because the access Claude Code set up for its own use already covers the request.

The login is held in memory while the app runs, sent only to Anthropic, and never written anywhere or sent to us. The app never signs you in or out and never renews the login. It does not send your sessions, notes, todos or file contents. Turned off, or if the login cannot be read, the app does not read the login, makes no request, and uses the figures Claude Code’s status line reports instead. Anthropic handles the request under its own privacy policy.

GitHub, to check for updates

Shortly after it starts and then once a day, Cloud Notch downloads a small list of released versions from GitHub (raw.githubusercontent.com) and compares it with the version you have. The request contains nothing about you or your sessions. As with any web request, GitHub sees your IP address and a line naming the app and its build number. No cookie is kept. GitHub handles the request under its privacy statement.

You can switch this off in Settings → General. The app never downloads or installs an update itself: Download opens the new version in your browser.

Links you open

Some buttons open a page in your browser or another app, such as an update’s download, a video call from your calendar, or a link on the Shelf. What happens there is between you and that site.

What macOS asks you to allow

macOS asks for each of these the first time the feature needs it, not when you install. Each is optional, and you can change your answer in System Settings → Privacy & Security.

What is stored on your Mac

Deleting the app and these folders removes everything Cloud Notch has stored.

What we never do

This website and downloads

This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads no fonts or scripts from anyone else. To show the current version and the release history, its pages read the list of releases, and the release history page reads download counts, from GitHub. GitHub therefore sees your IP address and browser details when those pages load, under its privacy statement.

The app itself is downloaded from GitHub, which keeps a count of downloads for each version. We see those totals and nothing about who downloaded.

Your browser may remember small preferences, such as light or dark and the glow colour you pick, in local storage on your device. These are never sent to us.

Cloud Notch is made and run by one independent developer, not a company. This website is served by a hosting provider, which, like any web host, may keep ordinary server logs, such as your IP address, the time and the page requested, under its own privacy policy.

Children

Cloud Notch is a developer tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If the app’s data handling changes, for example by adding a new network connection, we will update this page and its date before the change ships.
