Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 12 October 2026
The short version. Use Cloud Notch for your own work on your own Mac. Download it only from this site. It reports what Claude Code tells it and answers prompts only when you tell it to. It is provided as is, so check anything important in your terminal.
Accepting these terms
By downloading, installing or using Cloud Notch (“the app”) or this website, you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy. In the app, going on from the first screen of the welcome tour is how you accept them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the app on Macs you own or control. You may not copy, resell, reverse engineer or redistribute the app except as the law permits. The app and its design remain ours.
The app includes work by others under their own licences: the Retro sound effects by Juhani Junkala (CC0), and mediaremote-adapter (BSD 3-Clause), whose licence text is included in the app.
Downloading and installing
The app is distributed as a disk image from this website, served from our releases repository on GitHub. It is not on the Mac App Store. Every release is signed with our Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple.
Download it only from here. A copy from anywhere else may have been altered, and we are not responsible for it. If macOS says the app is damaged or cannot be checked, do not open it; download it again from this site.
What the app can reach
The app is not sandboxed. It runs with your user account’s access to your files, which it uses as the Privacy Policy describes: chiefly to read Claude Code’s folder and to keep your notes, todos and Shelf.
macOS asks you before the app can use the camera, your calendar, your reminders, or control Terminal or iTerm2, and may ask before it reads Claude Code’s login from your Keychain, which it does only if you turn on live plan usage. Each is your choice and can be withdrawn in System Settings. A feature that needs a permission you have not given does not work, and the rest of the app is unaffected.
Updates
The app checks once a day whether a newer version has been published and tells you when one has. You can switch the check off. It never installs anything for you: updating is downloading the new version and replacing the old one.
We support the current version only. An older version may stop working when Claude Code or macOS changes, and we may withdraw a release that turns out to be faulty.
Claude Code and Anthropic
Cloud Notch works alongside Claude Code, which is made by Anthropic. Cloud Notch is an independent app made by one developer. It is not made, endorsed or sponsored by Anthropic. You need your own Claude Code installation and, for plan figures, your own Claude plan. Your use of Claude Code and Anthropic’s services is governed by Anthropic’s terms, not these.
Cloud Notch relies on files and behaviour that Claude Code does not formally document. If you turn on live plan usage, which is off until you do, it asks Anthropic for your own figures, using the login Claude Code keeps on your Mac, through an interface Anthropic does not document for other apps. An update to Claude Code, or a decision by Anthropic, may change or stop any of this without notice.
Acceptable use
Use the app lawfully and only for your own sessions, on a Mac you are allowed to use it on. Do not use it to interfere with services you have no right to access, or to break the terms of Claude Code or Anthropic.
Accuracy of what the app shows
Statuses are read from what Claude Code reports. “Possibly stuck” is an estimate based on silence and may be wrong. Spend figures are estimates at public list rates and are not a bill. Plan percentages come from Anthropic and may be out of date or unavailable.
Answering and sending from the notch
The app never answers a prompt or sends anything on its own. When you allow a command, approve a plan, answer a question or send a note to a session, that is your decision and your responsibility. Read what you are approving before you answer.
No warranty
The app and website are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We do not promise that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free or compatible with every version of Claude Code or macOS.
Limit of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost work, missed prompts, unintended command approvals or plan usage. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the app. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Apple
Notarization is an automated check by Apple for malicious software. It is not a review, approval or endorsement of the app by Apple. Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for the app, its support or any claims about it. Mac and macOS are trademarks of Apple Inc.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.
